February 8th Creative Class - DSLR Introduction to Taking Better Photographs

$15.00

1:00-3:00 pm, Hosted by Tree of Liminality at the Heart House in Cedar Rapids Iowa

In this class you’ll learn how to take better photographs using a Digital SLR Camera, such as the Canon Digital Rebel and Nikon D.

One of the awesome things about technology is that it’s easier than ever to express yourself creatively. You can learn how to take (and make!) great photographs without a bunch of equipment. All you need is a camera and eyes that see the world photographically.

The class will cover composition, camera controls like aperture and shutter speed, finding your subject matter, and avoiding cliches. You’ll have the opportunity to do some practice exercises, get feedback, and share your images with others in a supportive environment.

By the end of the class, you’ll have a knowledge base that will help you to take better photographs, and a foundation you can build on for future creative endeavors. Each participant will also get to choose one of the photos they create to be featured on our social media.

If you’re interested in taking this class, but can’t afford a ticket, there are a limited number of spots available for volunteer assistants. Please contact Missa at treeofliminality@gmail.com for more information.

Missa has taught photography and digital media to a wide range of people, from casual art clubs to college classes. Her photographic work has been exhibited throughout the United States and internationally. She is the owner of Tree of Liminality and cofounder of Farmhouse Art Collective.
